Filing for a UK Company as a Non-UK Resident Director

Filing for a UK Limited Company When You Live Abroad

@AdamsWinter supports UK-incorporated companies regardless of where the director lives. If you have a UK limited company registered at Companies House, you can use @AdamsWinter to file your CT600 and accounts — even if you are based overseas.

Does My Residency Affect the Company's Tax Obligations?

No. Your personal residency is separate from the company's UK tax obligations. Because the company is incorporated in the UK, it must file a corporation tax return (CT600) with HMRC and submit accounts to Companies House every year — regardless of where the director or shareholders live.

@AdamsWinter handles both of these filings.

Which Plan Do I Need?

If you have one UK limited company, the Solo plan covers everything:

  • CT600 filing to HMRC
  • Micro-entity accounts to Companies House
  • Automatic tax calculation
  • Unlimited resubmissions
The Solo plan works exactly the same whether you are UK-based or overseas.

If you have more than one company, see the pricing page for multi-company plans.

What Are the Tax Rates?

Corporation tax is charged on the company's profits:

ProfitsTax Rate
Up to £50,00019% (small profits rate)
£50,001 – £250,00019–25% (marginal relief applies)
Over £250,00025%
For a company with profits under £5,000, the tax bill would typically be under £950 at 19%.

Does TinyTax Collect the Tax Payment?

No. @AdamsWinter submits the filing (the CT600 return) to HMRC and calculates the tax owed. The actual tax payment is made separately, directly to HMRC via bank transfer. After your CT600 is accepted, the amount due will appear in your HMRC online account.

Do I Need a Government Gateway Account?

Yes. To submit to HMRC through @AdamsWinter, you need an HMRC Government Gateway account. If you do not already have one, you can register at GOV.UK. Most non-UK residents can complete registration online, though HMRC may ask you to call if online identity verification does not work without a UK address.

What About Personal Tax (Self Assessment)?

@AdamsWinter handles the company's tax only — not your personal tax. If you draw a salary or dividends from the company and have UK-source income to declare personally, that is a separate Self Assessment filing handled directly through HMRC (or by an accountant). Whether you need to file a UK Self Assessment as a non-UK resident depends on your personal circumstances.

Common Questions

My company is not trading yet — do I still need to file?

Yes. Dormant companies must still file a CT600 each year. @AdamsWinter has a Dormant company option — select it on the filing form and the process is straightforward.

My company is registered overseas (Isle of Man, Jersey, etc.) — can I use TinyTax?

No. @AdamsWinter supports companies registered at Companies House (UK) only. See Can Overseas or Foreign Companies File CT600? for more information.
