Saving Your Work and Drafts
@AdamsWinter saves automatically - no save button needed. Learn how your data is preserved and how to return to unfinished filings.
@AdamsWinter automatically saves your progress as you work. Here's how saving works and how to return to your draft.
Automatic Saving
Good news: there's no save button because you don't need one.
@AdamsWinter saves your form data automatically:
- Every time you move to a new field
- When calculations are performed
- Before you navigate away
How to Return to Your Draft
Method 1: Dashboard Button
The easiest way to continue:
- Go to your Dashboard
- Find your company row
- The button will show:
- Click it and select CT600 or Accounts
- You'll return to your draft with all data preserved
Method 2: Company Details Drawer
- Click the → arrow on your company row
- The drawer slides open showing filing history
- Find your period and click:
What Gets Saved?
Everything you enter is preserved:
- Company type selection (Trading, Property, Dormant)
- Accounting period dates
- Profit & Loss figures - turnover, expenses, depreciation
- Balance Sheet figures - assets, liabilities, equity
- Tax adjustments - disallowable expenses, capital allowances
- Declaration details - name, position
- Prior year data - if fetched from Companies House
Starting Fresh
If you want to discard your draft and start over:
- Click Continue Filing ▾ on the dashboard (where your draft is)
- From the dropdown, select Delete Draft
- Confirm the deletion
- Start a new filing from scratch
Multiple Browser Tabs
Avoid opening the same filing in multiple tabs. If you do:
- The last tab you work in will overwrite the others
- You may lose data from other tabs
- Stick to one tab per filing for best results
Switching Companies
If you click "Start Filing" on a different company while you have a draft:
- Your existing draft is preserved
- The new company's form loads
- Return to your original draft via the dashboard
Session Timeouts
Your login session lasts for several hours of inactivity. If you're logged out:
- Log back in
- Go to the dashboard
- Click Continue Filing - your data is still there
Submitted vs Draft
Draft: Started but not submitted to HMRC/Companies House
- Shows 📄 (document icon) on dashboard
- Can be edited freely
- Button shows "Continue Filing"
- Shows ⏳ (pending) or ✓ (accepted)
- Cannot be edited (file an amendment instead)
- No "Continue" button - it's already submitted
Preview Page
When you click View Draft Submission, you're on the preview page:
- This is still a draft - nothing has been submitted yet
- You can go back and edit
- Only clicking Submit to HMRC or Submit Accounts actually sends your filing
Common Questions
"Where's the save button?"
There isn't one! @AdamsWinter saves automatically as you work.
"I closed my browser - is my data lost?"
No. Return to the dashboard and click "Continue Filing".
"I see 'Start Filing' instead of 'Continue Filing'"
This means either:
- You don't have a draft for this period
- Your draft was submitted successfully
- Check the status icon to see the current state
"Can I save and come back tomorrow?"
Yes! Your draft will be waiting whenever you return.
