What to expect after submitting your CT600 and accounts via @AdamsWinter. HMRC timelines, confirmation emails, and troubleshooting.
What happens after you click submit on @AdamsWinter? This guide walks through the full process — from submission to HMRC acceptance, and what to do if something goes wrong.
CT600 (HMRC) Submission
What Happens When You Click Submit
- @AdamsWinter connects to the HMRC Gateway using your Government Gateway credentials
- Your CT600 data is packaged and transmitted to HMRC's Transaction Engine
- HMRC returns a correlation ID — your unique reference for this submission
> Submission Received > [Your correlation ID]
How Long Does HMRC Take?
HMRC processes submissions asynchronously. @AdamsWinter automatically polls for the result:
- Typical response time: Within a few seconds
- Maximum wait in the modal: About 1–2 minutes
What If HMRC Accepts?
The modal updates to show Accepted by HMRC in green. Your dashboard will show a green tick for this filing.
You'll also receive two emails:
- Submission receipt — sent immediately, containing your correlation ID and company details
- Acceptance confirmation — sent once HMRC confirms, including your corporation tax amount and payment due date
What If HMRC Rejects?
The modal shows the HMRC error message. Common reasons include:
- Incorrect Government Gateway credentials
- Company UTR doesn't match HMRC records
- Data validation errors
Companies House Accounts Submission
What Happens When You Click Submit
- @AdamsWinter transmits your iXBRL accounts to Companies House
- Companies House returns a submission number — your reference for this filing
How Long Does Companies House Take?
Companies House processing takes longer than HMRC:
- Typical response time: 2–5 minutes
- Maximum wait in the modal: About 6 minutes
- Can occasionally take: Up to 24 hours in rare cases
If processing hasn't completed when the modal times out, you'll see a Check Status Now button. You can also check from your dashboard at any time.
After Both Filings Are Accepted
Once HMRC and Companies House have both accepted your filings:
- Your dashboard shows green ticks for both CT600 and Accounts
- Your filing documents are saved and accessible from the dashboard
- You're done for this accounting period

Common Questions
Q: I submitted but the modal timed out — is my filing lost? A: No. Your submission was received by HMRC or Companies House. @AdamsWinter continues checking in the background and will send you an email when the result comes through. Check your dashboard for the latest status.
Q: Can I resubmit if my CT600 was rejected? A: Yes. Fix the issue (usually credentials or data), then submit again. There's no limit on resubmissions and no extra charge.
Q: I submitted CT600 but forgot accounts — can I do them separately? A: Yes. Go back to the submission preview and submit your accounts. CT600 and accounts are independent filings.
Q: How do I know if I need to pay tax? A: Your acceptance email shows your corporation tax liability. If it's £0 (dormant or no profit), there's nothing to pay. If there's tax due, the email includes a link to pay HMRC online.
Q: Can I amend my CT600 after it's been accepted? A: Yes. HMRC accepts amendments within 12 months of the original filing deadline. You can file an amended return through @AdamsWinter.
