Fix Documents Out of Date Error Before CT600 Submission

When you click Submit Corporation Tax, @AdamsWinter checks that all your documents (CT600, tax computations, and accounts) are current before sending them to HMRC. If any document was generated before you last changed your figures or UTR, you will see an error saying the documents are out of date.

This is a safety check — it prevents HMRC from receiving documents that do not match your final figures.

Why This Happens

Documents become out of date when:

  • You update your UTR in the submission credentials popup — this triggers a computations regeneration, but your accounts are not automatically refreshed
  • You edit your P&L or balance sheet figures after visiting the preview page
  • Your preview session is from a previous visit and something has changed since

How to Fix It

  1. On the submission preview page, click Preview & Submit — this regenerates your CT600, tax computations, and accounts documents so they are all in sync
  2. Wait for the documents to fully load (this usually takes a few seconds)
  3. Click Submit Corporation Tax and enter your Government Gateway credentials
After regenerating, the submission error should not appear again.

Common Questions

I updated my UTR and it triggered a computations regeneration — why do I still need to regenerate?

Updating your UTR automatically regenerates the tax computations document to include the correct reference. However, your accounts document is not automatically updated at the same time. Clicking Preview & Submit ensures all documents are refreshed together before submission.

Will I lose my figures if I regenerate?

No — clicking Preview & Submit regenerates the documents from your saved figures. Nothing you have entered is lost.
